For folks who live in places like I do where there’s a whole lot of winter, summer can be especially sweet.
That is…if you’re paying attention.
See, when you’re somebody who’s trying to make a difference in the world, you might find yourself getting so caught up in your mission and getting shit done, that you switch the auto-pilot button on a little too often.
You say to yourself, “I’ll make time to pay attention and enjoy life LATER”. And next thing you know, September’s already nipping at your butt.
The Nourishing Power of Summer
It’s so important to remember that unless you take time to nourish your own well-being and joy, you won’t be sustainable in your important work. Joy, presence, connection, and liveliness are all fuel for effective changemakers…which makes summer like ROCKET FUEL for us.
Definitely something we don’t want to auto-pilot away.
As I get closer to my half-century point, the calculations in my head are fast and furious… If I’m lucky enough to live until 81 (the average age expectancy for a woman in North America), that’s only….32 summers I have left to experience!
What’s your calculation?
I’ll bet you no matter what the number is, it won’t feel like enough.
A Tool to Step Fully into Precious Summer
So, if you’d like some help to more deeply connect to and appreciate the majesty of THIS summer, I’ve got a guided meditation for you.
It’s taken from my Changemakers Livestream last week and it runs 14 minutes. Get yourself in a comfortable position, put your earphones in and prepare to really breathe in some summer ALIVENESS.
And then in the energy you feel post-meditation, choose one special summer activity (and, yes, having a nap in a hammock is definitely a “summer activity”) you’ll commit to enjoying this week. SHARE IT IN THE COMMENTS!
Now take a sec to breathe it in, Dearest… Really breathe…it…in.
